Kings Mountain October 7th, 1780, was an early win for the American Patriots.  Fought against Loyalists using muskets shooting down the mountain towards a resolute group of mountain men using hunting rifles.  While the rifles were slow to load they were accurate.  The rifleman slowly advanced up the mountain, picking off the loyalists through the trees. Ending in a Patriot victory, a healthy respect was won for those mountain men and their rifles.
